Joe Keery's Sci-Fi Horror Comedy 'Cold Storage' Now Streaming on MGM+
The film, based on David Koepp's novel, is available to subscribers of the Amazon-owned service.
The sci-fi horror comedy "Cold Storage," starring Joe Keery, is now available to stream on MGM+. The film began streaming on the service today, offering fans a chance to see Keery in a new role following his popular appearances in "Stranger Things."
Directed by Johnny Campbell and written by David Koepp, "Cold Storage" is adapted from Koepp's 2020 novel of the same name. The plot centers on two employees at a self-storage facility situated on a former military base. Their work takes a dangerous turn when a parasitic fungus is unearthed, releasing a microorganism that threatens to take over the world.
The movie features a cast including Sosie Bacon, Vanessa Redgrave, Lesley Manville, and Liam Neeson. "Cold Storage" received positive reviews upon its theatrical release in February. Prior to this streaming debut, the film was only available for purchase or rent.
While "Cold Storage" is distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films, not directly by MGM, Samuel Goldwyn Films has maintained an output deal with MGM+ (formerly Epix) since 2009. This agreement continues to be in effect, allowing the film to stream on MGM+ for subscribers.
MGM+ costs $7.99 per month or $62.04 annually, with a 7-day free trial available through Amazon. Alternatively, "Cold Storage" can be rented for $5.99 or purchased for $9.99 on digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video.
There is no definitive timeline for when, or if, "Cold Storage" will be available to stream for free on Amazon Prime Video. Although many Samuel Goldwyn Films are accessible on Prime Video, not all have been. For comparison, another Samuel Goldwyn Films release, "Red Sonja" (2025), became available on Prime Video approximately four and a half months after its theatrical debut. Given that "Cold Storage" has already passed this mark since its February opening, its future availability on Prime Video remains uncertain.
