JetBlue Named Only US Airline Among World's Most Spacious Economy Seats
Aviation researchers identified Qatar Airways as the top airline for economy seat comfort, with JetBlue also recognized for its legroom.
Researchers have identified the airlines offering the most spacious economy seats globally in 2026, with JetBlue being the sole U.S. carrier to be recognized on the list. Qatar Airways secured the top position for its seat pitch and width.
The study, conducted by aviation hub SimpleFlying, analyzed seat pitch and width—standard industry metrics for legroom and personal space—alongside product availability and fleet consistency. The analysis used seat dimension specifications from the aeroLOPA database, which provides detailed seat maps for airlines worldwide.
Qatar Airways was found to offer a seat pitch of 31 inches and a width of 18 inches. Researchers noted the airline's consistent economy product across its diverse fleet, making it less susceptible to changes from equipment swaps.
JetBlue was highlighted for its economy seats, which provide over 32 inches of pitch and 18 inches of width. The airline's use of narrowbody aircraft, which often feature smaller cabins and tighter rows, is counterbalanced by its focus on enhancing the passenger experience through comfortable seating. When compared to other major U.S. airlines like United Airlines and Delta Air Lines, which offer around 30 to 31 inches of seat pitch on their standard economy seats, JetBlue's offerings stand out.
While the study focused on seat dimensions, it did not consider in-flight entertainment or food and beverage services. Other airlines recognized for spacious economy seats include Emirates, Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, and Japan Airlines.
In separate findings, JetBlue was also rated the No. 1 U.S. airline for overall satisfaction in first- and business-class cabins in the 2026 JD Power North America Airline Satisfaction Study.
