Jaguar Land Rover Expands EV Charging Access for Customers in Europe

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a new partnership with the Digital Charging Solutions (DCS) platform, granting its electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle customers access to over 1.1 million charging points across Europe. The deal includes access to 75,000 charging points within the UK.

This initiative comes as JLR prepares for a significant rollout of its electric vehicle lineup. The company is set to officially unveil the new Jaguar Type 01, a luxury four-door GT car priced over £120,000, in October. This model will spearhead Jaguar's transition into an exclusive EV manufacturer. Additionally, the all-electric Range Rover is expected to be unveiled this year, marking further acceleration in the company's shift to battery power.

Owners of JLR's electrified models, including plug-in hybrid versions of the Defender, can utilize the DCS network through their InControl Remote app or future JLR applications. Drivers will have the ability to locate available charging stations, filter by charger speed, and manage payments via their smartphones. Buyers of new or existing electric and plug-in hybrid JLR vehicles will receive a complimentary JLR-branded charging card for accessing the network.

The UK charging network includes diverse locations, from remote islands like Skye and Orkney to popular sites such as the All England Club and Silverstone racetrack. JLR Charging is offered as a complimentary service, with an optional subscription plan available for a 20% reduction in charging rates for £8.99 per month.

Mark Camilleri, director of charging and connected services at JLR, stated that the partnership aims to provide seamless access to one of Europe's most comprehensive charging networks, emphasizing quality, choice, and convenience for EV customers. The Jaguar Type 01 is anticipated to feature over 1,000 horsepower, a sophisticated design, and a 120kWh battery pack capable of an estimated 430 miles of range. The Range Rover Electric, equipped with a 117kWh battery, is expected to offer over 300 miles of range.

JLR has committed to offering electric versions of all its luxury brands by 2030. The company's strategy involves flexible plans and vehicle architectures to adapt to market demands, with a focus on high standards of design, capability, and quality.
