Informa to Sell Academic Unit, Acquire Clarion Events for $2.96 Billion
The company aims to streamline its focus on business-to-business events and information services.

Informa PLC announced plans to separate its academic publishing division, Taylor & Francis, and concurrently acquire the live events company Clarion Events for $2.96 billion. The move is designed to allow Informa to concentrate on its core business-to-business (B2B) markets.
Taylor & Francis, a long-standing academic publisher, will be spun off as a distinct entity. Informa stated that this separation will enable the academic business to pursue its own growth strategies independently. Simultaneously, the acquisition of Clarion Events signals Informa's commitment to expanding its presence in the global live events industry.
Clarion Events organizes a wide array of trade and consumer events across various sectors. Informa, which already operates a significant portfolio of B2B events and intelligence services, sees the acquisition as a strategic step to enhance its market position and offerings. The combined entities are expected to create a leading global organizer of business-to-business events.
