IKEA Hosts 'Meatballbecue' in Southern California
The furniture retailer is celebrating its signature Swedish meatballs with a special barbecue event at its Covina store.
IKEA is holding a "Meatballbecue" event this weekend at its Covina, California store, offering its well-known Swedish meatballs alongside traditional barbecue items. The event, scheduled for tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. at the Swedish Bistro, will feature a special offer for $6.99.
The Meatballbecue deal includes four skewers of meatballs, potato salad, strawberry shortcake, and a fountain drink. This event highlights IKEA's focus on its meatballs, a menu item that has been a staple in its U.S. restaurants for over 40 years, having first appeared on menus in 1985.
Earlier this summer, IKEA collaborated with Chupa Chups to release a limited-edition, vegan meatball-flavored lollipop. The Covina location also plans to re-open its Swedish Bistro on August 15, with IKEA Family members in line potentially receiving a free "meatball sundae."
