Home Depot CEO Ted Decker Takes Medical Leave of Absence
Finance chief Richard McPhail and senior executive vice president Ann-Marie Campbell will oversee operations during Decker's temporary leave.
Home Depot announced Wednesday that CEO Ted Decker is taking a temporary medical leave of absence and is expected to return in the coming months. The company stated that Finance chief Richard McPhail and senior executive vice president Ann-Marie Campbell will jointly manage CEO operations during Decker's absence, a move made in accordance with Decker's recommendation.
Decker, 63, assumed the role of CEO at the home improvement giant in March 2022. He joined Home Depot in 2000 and has previously held significant positions in merchandising and retail finance. Home Depot has declined to provide further comment on the details of Decker's leave.
The company is scheduled to report its quarterly earnings on Tuesday. In its market, Home Depot, alongside competitors like Lowe's, has been focusing on expanding its business catering to professional contractors and builders. This strategic shift comes as inflation pressures lead consumers to postpone smaller home projects.
Campbell, 61, has been with Home Depot since 1985 and has held various senior roles within its U.S. operations. McPhail, 56, joined the company in 2005 and has served as CFO since September 2019.
