Historic North Wales Beach Hut With Rooftop Deck Lists for £50,000

A beach hut in North Wales, owned by the same family for over six decades, has come onto the market for £50,000. The compact property, measuring 11ft by 9ft, is situated on the sands of Porth Nefyn beach on the Llyn Peninsula.

The hut's most notable feature is its rooftop sun deck, accessed via external steps. This elevated area provides panoramic views of Nefyn Bay and the adjacent coastline, serving as an ideal spot to observe sunsets.

Eiddo Susan Jones Properties, handling the sale, noted the hut's prominent position within a long-established row of beach huts. It forms part of a historic beachfront community, a rarity as such properties often remain within families for generations. The structure itself is constructed of corrugated iron with a timber floor.

Despite its modest dimensions, the hut is priced significantly lower than some comparable properties in nearby areas. For instance, a similarly sized hut in the neighboring village of Abersoch was recently listed for approximately £200,000. Abersoch, often referred to as 'Cheshire-on-Sea' or the 'Sandbanks of the North,' is a popular destination for affluent holidaymakers, including Premier League footballers and their families.

A family who has owned this quirky beach hut in North Wales for 60 years has listed it on the market for £50,000.

Porth Nefyn itself is a popular destination, known for its two-mile sandy beach, sheltered waters, and scenic beauty. It attracts various water-based activities, including swimming, paddleboarding, and boating.

Nearby, the fishing hamlet of Porthdinllaen is home to the Ty Coch Inn, a well-known pub situated directly on the beach. The Nefyn & District Golf Club is also located on a dramatic headland overlooking the bay.

The tiny hut sits on the sands of Porth Nefyn beach on the stunning Llyn Peninsula.

The town of Nefyn has historical ties to the herring trade, which significantly shaped its economy in the 18th and 19th centuries. This heritage is reflected in the town's coat of arms, which features three herrings.

In other parts of North Wales, beach huts have fetched higher prices. One hut in Abersoch, described as a 'shed' and lacking power, was listed for £200,000. Another hut on Porth Mawr beach in Abersoch, rebuilt in 2023, also featured private decking and bay views, being marketed as ideal for the coastal lifestyle. Huts on Main Beach in Abersoch have previously sold for over £200,000, despite lacking running water or electricity.
