Fourteen people were killed Sunday morning when a helicopter belonging to Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil company, crashed in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. All on board were Saudi nationals, according to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Energy.
An investigation into the cause of the crash has been opened. The helicopter was operated by Aramco, which is majority-owned by Saudi Arabia. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. local time.
Aramco has recently navigated disruptions to oil supplies and price fluctuations stemming from the conflict in Iran. The company has stated it has rerouted some oil exports through a pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway where Iran has asserted control.
