Hartz Celebrates a Century of Pet Care Innovation and Community Support

The petcare industry continues its robust growth, with the U.S. market projected to expand from $165.6 billion to $228 billion by 2031. Amidst this expansion, Hartz, a brand with a 100-year legacy, is celebrating its centennial anniversary. Founded in 1926, Hartz has dedicated itself to ensuring dogs and cats lead healthy, joyful lives with their families.

A Century of Pet Parenthood

Hartz's mission extends beyond product innovation to actively supporting pet owners and their companions. The company highlights the significant bond between humans and pets, noting that nearly 94 million U.S. households own at least one pet. The benefits of pet ownership are well-documented, including stress reduction and companionship.

Recognizing common challenges faced by pet owners, Hartz has developed solutions like its Comfitables® Dog Diapers and Wraps. These products aim to address issues such as incontinence, which can contribute to pet surrenders. According to the company, approximately 3.1 million dogs are surrendered to shelters annually, with around 600,000 cases linked to potty accident-related issues. By offering reliable solutions, Hartz seeks to help pets maintain their independence and stay with their families.

To further support the pet-parent relationship, Hartz champions its "Unconditional Love" mission, offering resources through a dedicated online learning center that provides insights and guidance on pet care.

Centennial Initiatives and Community Focus

In commemoration of its 100th anniversary, Hartz has introduced a special centennial logo and a short-form film, alongside a series of year-round initiatives and events. A core focus of these celebrations is promoting pet adoption and fostering.

During key pet-centric months like National Pet Month in May and National Foster a Pet Month in June, Hartz has amplified efforts to showcase adoptable pets from shelters in major cities. The company collaborates with influencers and content creators to share the realities and rewards of pet ownership, particularly targeting Millennials and Gen Z. Stacy Kisla, Hartz Senior Director of Marketing (Cross-Category), expressed the brand's gratitude for its loyal fans and its commitment to fostering and adoption, stating, "Our goal is to do our part to spread pet fostering and pet adoption, especially across social media."

The Hartz Loving Paws Program

Hartz's commitment to animal welfare is further embodied in its Hartz Loving Paws™ program. This initiative supports animal shelters, foster pets, and families in need. Through collaborations with various animal welfare organizations, including Humane World for Animals, Greater Good Charities, and St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, Hartz has provided donations, supported rescue missions, engaged in volunteer work, and organized events.

The company emphasizes that anyone can become a foster pet parent, requiring only compassion and a willingness to learn, without prior animal experience. Pet enthusiasts can follow Hartz on Facebook and Instagram, and join the centennial celebration using the hashtag #Hartz100.
