Hailey Bieber Launches Denim Collaboration with Gap
The model's six-piece capsule collection features two relaxed fits inspired by the 1990s.
Hailey Bieber has expanded her résumé to include denim design with a new six-piece collaboration with Gap.
The capsule collection, which includes two relaxed fits—Extra Baggy and Low-Rise Loose—is inspired by 1996, the year of Bieber's birth and a significant year for the Gap brand. Each pair of jeans retails for $89 and is available in three washes.
"This project came together very organically because Gap has always been a part of my wardrobe," Bieber stated in a press release. The jeans are made from 100% rigid cotton designed to break in over time.
Inside the pocket lining, the "Hailey Jeans" feature Bieber's signature alongside the year 1996. "1996 has always felt iconic to me because there was something so effortless about that era and the way people wore denim," Bieber explained.
Bieber, who also founded the Rhode skincare line, told Vogue that she was "super involved" in the design process, drawing inspiration from her affinity for tailoring and '90s style icons such as Elizabeth Hurley and Kate Moss. Jane Pattinson, Gap SVP and Global Head of Design, noted that Bieber "understands denim in a very instinctive way—from proportion and fit to how it actually moves and wears on the body."
The collaboration follows Gap's recent denim collection with Victoria Beckham.
