Gousto to Close Lincolnshire Warehouse, Impacting 290 Jobs

Food company Gousto announced it will close its warehouse located on Clay Lake, near Spalding, Lincolnshire, a move that puts approximately 290 jobs at risk. The company plans to centralize its food box production at its existing facility in Cheshire.

Gousto stated that operating two warehouses is no longer efficient and has led to duplication of efforts. The firm has made significant investments in its Warrington facility, which currently employs around 600 people.

Timo Boldt, founder and chief executive of Gousto, described the decision as "incredibly difficult" due to the anticipated impact on employees at the Clay Lake site. He emphasized the necessity of operating as efficiently as possible within a competitive food market to enable continued investment in their offerings and maintain low prices for customers.

Boldt added that the company's focus is now on providing care, respect, and practical support to the affected employees during this transition period.
