Gousto to Close Lincolnshire Warehouse, Impacting 290 Jobs

Meal kit company Gousto is set to close its warehouse in Lincolnshire, a move that places approximately 290 jobs at risk. The company stated that the closure is part of an effort to operate more efficiently within the competitive food market and to maintain lower prices for consumers.
The Clay Lake site in Lincolnshire will cease operations, with all production consolidating at Gousto's existing facility in Warrington, Cheshire. This Warrington site is responsible for preparing and dispatching customer orders. Gousto has invested significantly in this location, incorporating advanced technology to enhance recipe selection and customer order personalization.
The company, which competes with brands such as Hello Fresh and Mindful Chef, currently prepares and delivers subscription meal kits for home cooking. Gousto indicated that maintaining two warehouses is no longer economically viable due to inefficiencies and duplication of efforts. The Warrington facility already handles the vast majority of orders and employs around 600 staff members.
