Global Travel Partners Enters Liquidation, Joining Wave of UK Travel Firm Failures

Global Travel Partners, a UK-based travel company that operated in both the UK and the US, has entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation. The firm, which launched in 2011 as BME Business Travel Ltd, served more than 100,000 customers over its 15-year history, arranging trips across Europe, North America, North Africa, and the Middle East. It also reported booking over 35,000 hotel rooms.

Insolvency firm Yerrill Murphy was appointed as liquidator on October 7, according to The Gazette. Global Travel Partners joins a growing list of travel companies that have ceased trading in recent months, signaling continued difficulties within the sector.

Last month, Barnes Worldwide Travel, an independent travel agent founded in 2007, stopped trading on September 9. Earlier this year, Wayfairer Travel suspended its services and announced it would close indefinitely. Wayfairer specialized in package holidays to various global destinations. Ski Yodl Ltd, a company offering ski holiday packages, entered voluntary liquidation in July.

Additionally, Travel Bespoke Ltd ceased trading as an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL) holder on May 29, after 15 years in operation. Gold Crest Holidays, a coach tour operator, confirmed it stopped trading and entered voluntary liquidation in January. Also in January, Asiara UK Ltd ceased trading as an ATOL holder, resulting in the cancellation of all its tours and flights. Simply Florida Travel Ltd, based in Glasgow, also ceased trading as an ATOL holder on January 20.
