General Mills Recalls Over 735,000 Pillsbury Bread Rolls Due to Glass Contamination Risk

General Mills is initiating a voluntary recall of more than 735,000 packages of Pillsbury frozen bread rolls due to the potential presence of glass fragments. The recall specifically targets "Hard Roll Dough" and "Kaiser Roll Dough" products.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified the recall as Class II on July 13. This classification indicates that the consumption of the affected products could lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.

The recalled items include 3,080 cases of Pillsbury "Hard Roll Dough" with "Better if Used by" dates of Oct. 12, 2026, and Oct. 13, 2026. Lot numbers for this product are 11JUN6JL and 12JUN6JL. Additionally, 1,260 cases of Pillsbury "Kaiser Roll Dough" are included, with a "Better if Used by" date of Oct. 13, 2026, and lot number 12JUN6JL.

These affected products were distributed to retail locations in 19 states: Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.

This recall is part of a broader trend of recent food safety alerts. Notably, the FDA recently escalated a recall of certain Utz Quality Foods potato chips to its highest risk classification, citing a potential salmonella contamination that could cause serious health consequences or death.
