Gap Revives 1990s Fragrances With Modernized Formulas
The retailer reintroduces popular scents Dream, Grass, Heaven, and Om, alongside a new fragrance, Harmony.
Gap has relaunched its iconic 1990s fragrance line, offering modernized versions of beloved scents alongside a new addition. The revived collection includes "Dream," "Grass," "Heaven," and "Om," with "Harmony" being a completely new scent.
Perfumers Honorine Blanc, who worked on the original Gap Beauty line, and Nicole Mancini updated the formulas using contemporary methods and ingredients. Their goal was to capture the original comforting nostalgia of the millennial-favorite fragrances while elevating them to eau de parfums.
"Dream" is described as a warm, woody blend featuring bergamot, jasmine, and cedarwood, aiming to be the closest to its initial formulation. "Grass" is a fresh and lightweight scent, "Heaven" is soft and sensual, and "Om" is rich and grounded.
The new fragrance, "Harmony," is a playful scent characterized by notes of apricot nectar, gardenia, and amber.
According to Blanc, the enduring appeal of 1990s scents lies in their association with comfort and safety. "This new generation is looking for what was in the ‘90s because there was this comfort," Blanc told Allure. "The ‘90s is becoming today like the comfort, the safety."
For consumers who wish to try multiple scents, Gap is also offering a Discovery Set containing mini versions of all five fragrances.
This beauty relaunch follows a series of high-profile collaborations for Gap, including recent partnerships with Victoria Beckham and Hailey Bieber, indicating a broader strategy of revisiting popular past elements.
