Furniture Retailer Dusk Eyes London IPO Amid Market Concerns
Online retailer Dusk is reportedly preparing for a London Stock Exchange listing valued at approximately £300 million, seeking to boost the city's IPO market.
Online bedding and furniture retailer Dusk is preparing for a potential listing on the London Stock Exchange with an estimated valuation of £300 million. The company has reportedly hired investment bankers Panmure Linerum and Zeus in anticipation of an initial public offering (IPO) later this year.
Dusk, which sells a range of home goods including sofas and rugs from its Yorkshire base, recorded a 28 percent increase in sales to £195 million for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company boasts a customer base of two million.
This move by Dusk comes at a time when the London stock market is facing scrutiny over its appeal to new listings. Recent analyses suggest that more British companies may choose to list in New York than in London this year. The potential listing of Dusk could offer a positive signal for the City, which has seen a number of prominent UK firms targeted by overseas bidders in recent weeks.
According to analysis from Peel Hunt, since the beginning of 2023, there have been 154 completed or proposed bids for UK-listed firms valued over £100 million, totaling £165 billion. In contrast, during the same period, there have been only 11 UK IPOs of companies in that size bracket, with a combined value of £6 billion.
Founder and chief executive Jason Walker is expected to remain a significant investor in the company following the potential IPO. The listing could also coincide with hopes for other major companies, such as Waterstones and Boots, to go public in London in the coming years. Primark is also anticipated to join the FTSE-100 index upon its spin-off from owner Associated British Foods.
