Explora III Cruise Ship Offers Ultra-Luxury with Suites Priced at €6,400 Per Night
The newly launched Explora III aims to redefine ocean travel with its opulent suites, fine dining, and extensive amenities.
Explora III, the third vessel from Explora Journeys, has embarked on its inaugural voyage, introducing what is described as an ultra-luxury experience at sea. The ship, part of the MSC Group, aims to set a new standard in ocean travel with its plush accommodations, high crew-to-passenger ratio, and sophisticated ambiance.
The Explora III features 461 suites, with no more than 900 passengers accommodated and a crew of 700 attending to their needs, resulting in an approximate 700:900 crew-to-passenger ratio. This focus on space and service is central to the Explora brand, which prefers the term 'ocean travel' over 'cruise'. Even the entry-level suites are designed to be more spacious than standard cabins on other ships.
Among the most exclusive offerings are the Owner's Suites, which can cost up to €6,400 per night and span the width of the ship. The vessel provides five swimming pools, a padel court, a casino, and high-end retail outlets including Cartier, Rolex, and Chopard. The interior design emphasizes elegance, with muted colors, thick carpets, and curated artwork.
Mega-yacht inspired design includes a striking gold staircase with steps crafted from Sahara Noir marble in the ship's atrium. IMAGE1 The ship's design is intended to appeal to both seasoned cruise passengers and those who might not typically consider a cruise vacation.
Explora Journeys plans to expand its fleet with six ships by 2028. The company, owned by the Italian Aponte family, is a part of the MSC Group, known globally for its container shipping operations.
The culinary experience on Explora III eschews traditional buffets and main dining rooms. Instead, it offers several distinct restaurants. Among the options are Sakura, a Japanese restaurant praised for its quality and service, and Fil Rouge, a French restaurant. The Med Yacht Club is also available on deck four. For a premium experience, the fine-dining venue Anthology offers a seven-course tasting menu with wine pairings for an additional €200 per person. For wellness, Explora III includes a comprehensive Wellness Centre with a hydrotherapy pool and 11 treatment rooms. The crew composition is noted for its diversity, with staff hailing from various countries including the Philippines, India, Africa, South America, and Italy.
IMAGE6 The ship's journey includes stops at destinations such as Genoa, Italy, and St. Tropez, France, reinforcing its slogan: 'maybe the best suite comes with a new view every day.' IMAGE2 Travel facts indicate that a seven-night journey from Eastern Canada to New York on Explora III costs from £4,300 per person for September sailings.
