Electric Vehicle Market Explodes with New Models Launching Every Two Weeks
The selection of electric vehicles available to UK buyers has doubled in three years, with 171 models now on offer.
The electric vehicle market is rapidly expanding, with manufacturers introducing new models at a pace of one every two weeks over the past three years. This surge has more than doubled the choice available to British drivers, who can now select from 171 fully electric models, ranging from compact city cars to luxury grand tourers. Since 2023 alone, 85 new electric vehicles have entered the market.
The average range for these new EVs is approximately 300 miles on a single charge, significantly exceeding the typical weekly mileage of a British driver. The longest-range EVs available can now offer over 500 miles of travel on one charge.
In addition to fully electric options, the market also features 109 plug-in hybrid models and 52 hybrid electric models. Collectively, these electrified vehicles mean that over 75 percent of all models available in the UK market can operate without tailpipe emissions.

Vauxhall Corsa Electric
Priced from £26,780, the Vauxhall Corsa Electric closely resembles its petrol counterpart in exterior design and interior layout. It offers a driving range of up to 265 miles, a top speed of 112 mph, and can achieve an 80 percent charge in 30 minutes.
Renault 5 E-Tech
Retailing from £20,995, the Renault 5 E-Tech embodies a retro design and has garnered significant popularity, leading to a waitlist. This compact electric car delivers up to 250 miles on a single charge and boasts 150 bhp, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in eight seconds. The vehicle includes a 326-liter boot and a cabin equipped with two 10-inch screens featuring Google integration.
BMW iX3
Starting at £62,080, the BMW iX3, an electric variant of the X3 SUV, offers an extensive range of 500 miles on a single charge. This updated model features a redesigned exterior, a new interior with BMW's Panoramic iDrive display, and enhanced driving dynamics, positioning it as a luxury option for long-distance travel.
Audi A6 e-tron
For those preferring an estate car body style, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron is available from £65,165. It offers robust performance for its class, with 456 bhp (using launch control), a 0–62 mph time of 4.5 seconds, and a range of up to 444 miles, making it suitable for family road trips.
Mercedes EQS
