DoorDash Expands Clothing Delivery, Adds Return Service

DoorDash is expanding its reach into clothing delivery and introducing a new service for handling returns. The San Francisco-based company announced Wednesday it has partnered with several retailers, including Macy’s, Anthropologie, The North Face, Vans, and Timberland.

Under the new agreements, these brands will make their products available on DoorDash’s U.S. website, with drivers delivering items in as little as an hour. While Macy's has previously used DoorDash for same-day delivery for several years, this formalizes the ongoing relationship and allows the department store to list its merchandise on the DoorDash platform.

In addition to deliveries, DoorDash drivers will also be responsible for picking up and returning items purchased through the app. This new return service will operate on a flat fee of $7.99. The company has been testing this service in select U.S. markets and plans a nationwide rollout in November.

DoorDash, originally founded as a restaurant delivery service in 2013, has been diversifying its offerings to attract a broader customer base. The company added grocery delivery in 2020 and has recently announced collaborations with other retailers such as Gap, Costco, Barnes & Noble, and Kohl’s.

This move into expanded retail deliveries follows a similar trend from competitors. Uber Eats, a rival platform, has also been increasing its focus on retail deliveries. In July, Uber Eats announced a partnership with Foot Locker and expanded its nationwide grocery delivery from Costco in September.
