Domino's Launches Single-Serving Detroit-Style Pizza to End Topping Disputes
The pizza chain introduces 'The Domino,' a personal-sized pie designed for individual customization.
Domino's is introducing a new menu item called The Domino, a Detroit-style pizza designed for a single person, aiming to eliminate the need for compromise on toppings when dining with others. This marks the first time in its over 65-year history that the company is offering a pizza specifically for individual consumption.
The new offering is intended to address the common issue of differing topping preferences among diners. Joe Jordan, Domino's chief operating officer and president of Domino's US, stated that The Domino "fills a gap" in the company's product line, allowing each customer to "build the exact pizza they want."
The Domino is shaped like the Domino's logo and is cut into two large slices. It features a handmade dough dusted with Parmesan cheese, baked in a rectangular pan for a crispy crust. Customers can choose their preferred sauce and up to three toppings, with two layers of cheese and finished with Domino's garlic seasoning. Independent consumer testing reportedly rated The Domino as one of the most delicious products the company has ever introduced.
Domino's is positioning The Domino as a portable and convenient option suitable for various occasions, from on-the-go lunches to late-night snacks. The new pizza will be available nationwide starting August 31 as part of the Domino's Mix and Match Deal. Customers can select a two-topping Domino for $6.99 each when purchasing two or more qualifying items, though prices may vary by location.
Social media reactions have been largely positive, with some users comparing it favorably to Domino's existing pan pizza offerings. Others have expressed appreciation for Domino's consistent pricing and deals, citing the chain as one of the few fast-food establishments maintaining justifiable prices.
Despite closing over 200 stores post-COVID, Domino's remains the largest pizza chain globally by both sales and store count, surpassing competitors like Little Caesars and Pizza Hut. Retail experts note that Domino's continues to widen the gap with rivals, attributing its success to a strong focus on value, ease of ordering, and menu innovation. As of August 14, 2026, this new single-serving pizza aims to further enhance its market position.
