Daniel Johns Slashes Sydney Apartment Price by $100,000 Amidst Property Market Slowdown

Singer-songwriter Daniel Johns has reduced the asking price of his Sydney investment apartment by $100,000, seeking $1.2 million after the property did not sell at its original guide.

The two-bedroom apartment in Darlinghurst was first listed last month with a price guide of $1.3 million. Johns originally purchased the top-floor property in the Riverina Flats building with his brother Heath in 2010 for $670,000. The revised price represents a significant increase from the initial purchase but a reduction as Johns aims to attract interest in Sydney's competitive real estate market.

The Art Deco apartment is situated on Palmer Street and offers panoramic views of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. The listing emphasizes its premier position within the building, noting that uninterrupted views are visible from every principal room. The property has undergone renovations while maintaining its original character. A notable feature highlighted is a rooftop terrace that overlooks the Sydney skyline.

The listing also promotes the apartment's privacy, stating it has no common walls, and its location in one of Darlinghurst's sought-after buildings. It is described as being in a developing cultural hub, close to Oxford Street and the central business district.

This price adjustment comes just over a month after the apartment was initially put on the market. The previous rental income for the property was $900 per week.

This sale follows other recent property divestments by Johns. Three months ago, he sold his coastal property in Merewether, a suburb near Newcastle. This 'dream' property, a vacant lot, was listed in May with a price guide of $2.7 million to $3 million. Johns had acquired the land in 2000 for $1.4 million and demolished an existing five-bedroom home in 2025, with plans to construct a new residence. He had previously sold one of the subdivided blocks for $3.2 million in August of the previous year, after it spent 24 days on the market. The adjacent property sold for $3.7 million in July 2025. The remaining parcel of land in Merewether is 968 square meters, located on high ground in a secluded cul-de-sac, offering ocean views, including of Merewether Beach.
