Curtis Stone Recounts Diner's Confrontation Over Husband's Alleged Affair

Celebrity chef Curtis Stone has detailed a dramatic encounter at one of his restaurants where a diner confronted employees about her husband's alleged infidelity.

Appearing on the podcast "Dinner's On Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson," Stone recalled an incident involving a married couple. The wife became visibly upset and threw a drink at her spouse during an argument at their table. She then demanded that a restaurant employee reveal whether her husband had been dining at the establishment with another woman.

"You tell me now. Has he or has he not been in here?" Stone recounted the diner asking an employee.

When Ferguson inquired if the husband had indeed been there with another woman, Stone declined to confirm the outcome, stating, "I'm not going to say."

Stone explained that the couple eventually calmed down, but their argument continued outside the restaurant. "We were able to trace the fight all the way to the parking lot," he said.

The chef acknowledged that dealing with unhappy customers is a regular part of the restaurant business. While issues can sometimes stem from food or service, Stone noted that misunderstandings and alcohol consumption can also contribute to customer dissatisfaction.

Stone, who has been a professional chef for over 30 years and owns establishments like Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant and Maude, emphasized his commitment to client privacy. He stated that he refrains from discussing celebrity guests or sharing "juicy stories" to maintain the discretion of his venues and avoid attracting undue attention.

In September 2024, Stone closed his restaurant Maude after a decade, citing a desire for more time with his children. He subsequently opened The Pie Room in the same space, offering pies, sausage rolls, and quiches.

Earlier this year, Stone announced plans to open his first restaurant in Australia, located within the Waldorf Astoria Sydney, part of Hilton's luxury hotel brand. The new venture, set to open in 2027 at One Circular Quay, will be one of two exclusive dining experiences for the hotel and marks Stone's return to his home country with a fine-dining concept inspired by his upbringing.
