Cunard's Queen Anne to Transfer to P&O Cruises in 2029
The £500 million vessel will be renamed and reimagined for its new role within the Carnival UK portfolio.
Cunard is set to transfer one of its flagship vessels, the Queen Anne, to its sister company P&O Cruises in 2029. The £500 million ship, which joined Cunard's fleet in 2024, will undergo an extensive reimagining and be renamed before entering service with P&O Cruises in May 2029.
Queen Anne will complete her 2028-29 World Voyage with Cunard, a journey spanning over 100 nights and visiting 30 different ports, before making the transition. This move marks the end of her tenure as a Cunard 'Queen', a designation carried by Cunard's most prestigious vessels.
Paul Ludlow, president of Carnival UK, P&O Cruises, and Cunard, described the transfer as a significant development for P&O Cruises. "Queen Anne was created as a bold and contemporary expression of Cunard, combining the brand's hallmark service and sense of occasion with modern design, an extensive choice of dining and entertainment, and highly flexible public spaces," Ludlow stated. He added that these qualities align well with the modern P&O Cruises holiday experience and that the ship's move is a "defining addition to the next chapter of P&O Cruises."
Ludlow also noted that efforts will be made to ensure the upcoming seasons serve as a "fitting celebration of her time as a Cunard Queen." In parallel with Queen Anne's transfer, P&O Cruises will also see its Arcadia ship depart on August 21, 2029, moving to Holland America Line.
The Queen Anne, built over five years, measures 1,058 feet long and accommodates 2,956 guests and 1,225 crew members across its 13 decks. It was the fourth ship to join Cunard's fleet, following the Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria. The vessel features an art gallery, multiple fine dining options including Japanese, Indian-inspired, steakhouse, and Mediterranean restaurants, as well as bars and lounges, such as the Golden Lion pub.
Details regarding the specific reimagining of Queen Anne for P&O Cruises and any changes to the onboard experience will be announced at a later date. Until the transition in 2029, the ship will continue to operate all scheduled voyages as planned.
