Costco Restocks Beloved Kirkland Signature Chocolate Chips After Two-Year Absence

Costco has officially restocked its Kirkland Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, a product that had been absent from shelves for two years. The beloved private-label chips were pulled in July 2024, with the retailer citing increased cocoa costs as the reason for discontinuing sales.

News of the restock has been met with enthusiasm from Costco shoppers. Online forums and social media platforms, including Reddit, have seen a surge of posts from customers expressing their delight. One shopper noted their excitement after checking the Costco app and finding the chips in stock, having recently been unable to find them in their local warehouse.

During the hiatus of the Kirkland Signature chips, Costco had been offering Nestlé Toll House chips as a replacement. However, this change was not popular with all shoppers, some of whom stated they refused to purchase the Nestlé brand due to personal preferences.

The 4.5-pound bags of Kirkland Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips are now priced between $11.99 and $12.59, varying by location. This represents an increase from previous years; one shopper shared a photo from 2021 indicating the bags were then sold for $7.99.

This return follows other recent product additions that have generated buzz among Costco members. Last week, the retailer introduced Southern-style buttermilk biscuits to its bakery offerings. Additionally, in July, a limited-time Vanilla Cookie Crunch Sundae was added to the food court menu, featuring vanilla soft serve with chocolate syrup and cookie crumbles.
