Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch to Lead Mattel
Lynch departs the media conglomerate after more than seven years to take the helm at the toy giant.
Roger Lynch announced Wednesday that he is stepping down as CEO of Condé Nast, a position he held for over seven years, to become the new chief executive of Mattel. Lynch will maintain his seat on the board of the media company, which owns publications such as The New Yorker, Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair.
Mike Perlis, the lead independent director at Condé Nast, will serve as interim CEO while the board initiates a search for Lynch's successor. In a note to staff, Lynch reflected on his tenure, stating, "When I joined Condé Nast, I had the simple ambition to leave this extraordinary place stronger than I found it." He added, "Together, we navigated a pandemic, enormous disruption across our industry, and a media landscape that seemed to change beneath our feet every year. And yet, there is no doubt that we transformed Condé Nast for a new era."
Before his role at Condé Nast, Lynch served as the president and CEO of the music streaming app Pandora. He has also been a member of Mattel's board as the lead independent director since 2018.
