Colorado Mansion With Gondola Views Lists for $14 Million

A distinctive stone mansion situated directly beside the Steamboat Springs gondola in Colorado has returned to the market with a price tag of $13.95 million. The 11,317-square-foot residence, located at 2555 Ski Trail Lane, offers six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, along with expansive views of the Steamboat Ski Base, Emerald Mountain, the Yampa Valley, and the Flat Tops.

Completed in 2009 after a six-year construction period, the home was designed as a lasting estate. Listing agent Broby Leeds highlighted that the property's unique positioning, where thousands of skiers pass by daily during winter, has made it an iconic local landmark. The architectural design incorporates locally sourced stone and handcrafted elements from international artisans, creating an interior aesthetic that blends mountain lodge and European manor styles.

Notable interior features include massive stone walls, reclaimed timber beams, custom ironwork, and a 20-foot custom range hood in the chef's kitchen. The exterior stonework utilizes locally sourced, weathered boulders. Many of the interior and exterior railings, as well as custom refrigerator handles, incorporate reclaimed chairlift cables, a nod to the area's skiing heritage.

Despite its size and three elevator-serviced levels, the home was designed for practical living, with essential spaces, including two primary suites, situated on the main floor. Amenities include a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, a private theater, an indoor shooting range, a hot tub, a large entertaining deck, and three laundry rooms. Most major rooms offer mountain views, with extensive glass elements providing constant vistas of the gondola and surrounding peaks.

The residence has been updated with modern technology, including a Savant smart-home system controlling lighting, climate, audio, shades, and entertainment. The property's location provides convenient access to skiing, mountain biking, hiking, restaurants, and the Steamboat base area, while remaining a short drive from downtown. Leeds described the property as a "legacy estate" that would be exceptionally difficult to replicate today.
