CMC Markets Strikes Multi-Million Pound Shirt Sponsorship Deal With Everton FC
The FTSE 250 trading firm will become the front-of-shirt sponsor for Everton's men's, women's, and under-21 teams.
CMC Markets has entered into a significant multi-million-pound sponsorship agreement with Premier League football club Everton. The FTSE 250 trading firm, led by former Conservative Party treasurer Lord Cruddas, will feature as the front-of-shirt sponsor across the men's, women's, and under-21 teams.
Branding for CMC Markets will also be visible at Everton's new stadium situated on the River Mersey, the historic Goodison Park, which is currently used by the women's team, and the Finch Farm training ground. While the financial details of the agreement were not officially disclosed, it is estimated to be worth approximately £25 million annually.
The new home kit, which will be the first to display the CMC Markets logo on the front, is scheduled for release on Thursday at 9 a.m.
This partnership comes as CMC Markets aims to expand its brand recognition, transitioning from its traditional trading services to establish itself as a global financial services entity catering to long-term and institutional investors. Lord Cruddas, who founded CMC in 1989, drew parallels between football and financial markets, stating, "Football is one of the few passions in life that inspires lifelong commitment because, like financial markets, you invest in your club long-term." He added that supporters' passion mirrors the mindset of many CMC clients, who demonstrate loyalty and a drive for success through patience, resilience, and confidence.
"Everton is a great club, with a proud history and deep connections to its community," Lord Cruddas commented. "We are proud to partner with a club that shares our core values, identity and passion. Wishing Everton every success for the coming seasons."
The sponsorship announcement coincided with CMC Markets raising its annual profit forecasts, which led to a 25% surge in its shares and a valuation of £1.6 billion for the firm. The company anticipates operating income to reach at least £550 million for the fiscal year ending March 2027, surpassing its earlier projection of £460 million to £480 million.
Andrew Middleton, president of business operations at Everton, welcomed CMC Markets as the club's main partner. "CMC Markets is a respected, ambitious and forward-thinking global brand that understands the loyalty, identity and passion at the heart of football," Middleton said. "We are pleased to be working with a partner that recognises the strength of Everton's international reach and the opportunity to connect with Evertonians as the Club continues exciting new chapters at Hill Dickinson Stadium and Goodison Park."
Middleton further noted the significance of the agreement for the club's commercial growth, stating, "This is an important agreement for the Club and one that will play a key role in our continued commercial growth. Partnerships of this scale help us strengthen revenues, build a more sustainable platform for success and support our ambitions on and off the pitch."
The partnership is also expected to foster engaging activations and experiences for Everton fans across matchdays and digital platforms. Both CMC Markets and Everton expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and its potential to reflect the shared ambitions and identities of both organizations.
