Carl Friedrik, a brand known for its durable and premium luggage, has introduced its latest offering: the Aluminum Check-In suitcase. Priced at $1095, this 76-liter model is engineered for longer journeys and international travel, aiming to blend durability with a refined aesthetic. The launch follows the successful debut of its smaller counterpart, the Aluminum Carry-On.

The new Check-In features a robust anodized aluminum shell, TSA-approved combination locks, and high-quality ball-bearing wheels designed for smooth maneuverability. According to the brand, the suitcase is "engineered to endure," suggesting it is built to withstand the rigors of frequent travel. This emphasis on durability is further reinforced by steel-reinforced corners and hinges intended to enhance impact resistance.

The design of the Aluminum Check-In shares many characteristics with the carry-on version. It includes a multi-stage rolling system with wheels developed in collaboration with Honimo of Japan, and handles wrapped in vegetable-tanned leather. The exterior also features leather trim around the shell, contributing to its premium look. Inside, the suitcase is equipped with a zipped garment compartment and a compression pad with straps to help organize and secure belongings.

Niklas Oppermann, Co-founder and CEO of Carl Friedrik, stated that the larger model addresses the needs of travelers requiring more space than a cabin-sized case can offer. "This larger model is our answer to the reality of extended transit, giving seasoned globetrotters the extra space they need without compromising on the collection’s refined Golden Age of Travel aesthetic," he explained.

The Aluminum Carry-On, which debuted in March, sold out within eight weeks, indicating strong consumer demand for the brand's aluminum luggage. The positive reception of the smaller model prompted the expansion of the line. The new Check-In is available in silver with trim options in black, cognac, or chocolate.

While the $1095 price point is substantial for luggage, Carl Friedrik suggests it represents an investment for frequent travelers who value high-end features and longevity. The brand also offers a lifetime warranty on its products, further supporting the idea that the suitcase could be a long-term purchase.

The suitcase is designed for ease of use, with maneuverable wheels that can handle varied surfaces and adjustable handles for comfortable towing. The interior layout is intended to help travelers pack efficiently, with specific compartments for garments and toiletries, alongside compression systems for clothing.
