British Startup Alfor Aviation to Debut Cargo Plane Conversion Technology
Alfor Aviation plans to unveil its new internal loading system at the Farnborough Air Show, aiming to significantly reduce costs and turnaround times for converting passenger jets into freighters.
Alfor Aviation, a British startup founded in 2023, is set to introduce its innovative cargo conversion technology at the Farnborough Air Show next month. The company, a joint venture between Turkey's Alarko industrial group and British aviation specialist Foravia, aims to revolutionize the air freight industry.
Transforming Air Cargo
Alfor Aviation asserts that its newly developed 'internal loading system' will address inefficiencies in the current method of converting passenger aircraft into freighters. The company claims this system can reduce freight costs by nearly 40 percent and streamline the conversion process. According to Alfor, this represents the most significant rethinking of cargo conversion principles since the emergence of the modern freighter industry following World War II.
Alfor is currently applying its conversion system to both Airbus and Boeing passenger aircraft. The company believes its technology offers a practical and cost-effective solution for airlines and logistics operators seeking to expand cargo capacity without the traditional complexities and expenses.
Adapting to Global Logistics
"Global logistics has fundamentally changed," stated Alfor director Omer Mafa. "Today's supply chains are built around speed, reliability and precise delivery timing. The industry needs solutions that can adapt quickly to changing demand."
Mafa added, "Our new technology is designed to give airlines and logistics operators a practical, affordable way to add cargo capacity without the cost and complexity traditionally associated with freighter conversions. We believe this is the most important new approach to cargo aircraft conversion in decades."
The company's initiative comes amid evolving global commerce trends, driven by the rise of online shopping and advancements in artificial intelligence, which are reshaping transportation and increasing customer expectations for rapid delivery.
