Bristol Horror Bookshop Seeks £20,000 to Avert Closure
The Haunted Bookshop is running a crowdfunding campaign to cover operational costs amid economic pressures and reduced footfall.
The Haunted Bookshop, a Bristol-based store specializing in horror, fantasy, folklore, and the occult, is launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise £20,000 to prevent its closure. The shop, which opened two years ago, aims to provide a space for individuals who feel "a little different."
Owner Monika Killer cited ongoing cost-of-living pressures and a recent decline in customer traffic, exacerbated by a summer heatwave, as primary reasons for the financial difficulties. These factors have led to the business falling behind on essential bills, making it "impossible to manage alone," according to Killer.
The crowdfunding initiative has already garnered support, with over 450 individuals pledging more than £7,500 toward the £20,000 goal. The funds raised will be used to cover the shop's operational expenses and ensure its continued operation.
