BioSource Launches Sustainable Palm Board Alternative
The company's innovative material utilizes waste from date palms and a plant-protein binder.
BioSource has introduced Palllm Board, a sustainable alternative to traditional particleboard. The material is made from waste generated by date palms and bound together using a plant-protein adhesive. This approach avoids the synthetic, formaldehyde-based adhesives commonly found in conventional particleboard.
Co-founder Klaus Strehle highlighted that both the fiber component and the binder are derived from underutilized biological side streams. This year marks a significant expansion for the company, with the launch of Palllm flooring in Europe.
Additionally, a cork-palm composite has entered production, and Brazil has confirmed its first industrial-scale Palllm production facility. The company was recognized by TIME as one of the best inventions of 2026 for its innovative material.
