Australian Real Estate Agent Gains Attention With Brutally Honest Billboard Ad

Bayside Properties agent David Pearce has seen a surge of calls and online praise after a billboard advertisement featuring a candid review of his services was posted at Wynnum North Station in Brisbane.

The advertisement, which includes a photo of Pearce, states: "We chose David because we hated him the least."

Pearce, 40, told Daily Mail Australia that his phone has been ringing constantly since a picture of the billboard was shared online. He believes that using humor and self-deprecation makes professionals more approachable. "I think humour and self-deprecation make you human and approachable rather than robotic and repetitive, like marketing seen across many industries," he said.

Social media users have reacted positively to the ad, with many commending Pearce's sense of humor and self-awareness. "I'll be honest, if I were needing a real estate agent's help, this sign would make me consider this guy," one user commented. Another described the advertisement as "highly effective advertising."

This is not the first time Pearce, a former police officer in England who has worked in real estate for eight years, has used dry humor in his marketing. In 2023, he launched a similar billboard advertisement that read: "Need to upgrade your location? Call the agent who's next to the bins in the car park by the train line."

That initial campaign, which featured Pearce standing near bins, was also well-received locally in the Wynnum and Manly areas where he operates. Pearce noted that the "train line" joke helped increase local awareness and break the ice with potential clients. He considers humor a powerful tool for generating business conversations.
