Arsenal Prepares £70 Million Bid for Newcastle's Bruno Guimarães
The Gunners are reportedly accelerating talks for the Brazilian midfielder, who is a priority target.
Arsenal is preparing to submit a £70 million offer for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães, according to reports. The Brazil international is identified as a primary target for Arsenal, with the midfielder expressing a desire to join the Premier League champions.
Newcastle is aware of the 28-year-old's preference to move to Arsenal this summer. Negotiations for Guimarães's potential transfer are ongoing and are said to have intensified in recent days. However, it remains uncertain whether Arsenal's £70 million bid will meet Newcastle's valuation of the player.
Arsenal aims to strengthen its squad with high-caliber players during the summer transfer window, seeking to build upon last season's league title. The club had previously shown interest in Morgan Rogers, who ultimately joined Chelsea for £117 million. Arsenal reportedly declined to exceed their £80 million valuation for Rogers and were given the opportunity to match Chelsea's offer but chose not to.
Similarly, Arsenal is maintaining a firm maximum valuation for Guimarães and is reluctant to overpay, despite their strong interest in the midfielder. The club is also pursuing defensive reinforcements and has made inquiries about the availability of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, who is considered Arsenal's primary defensive target.
Another defender on Arsenal's radar is Como's Jacopo Ramoni, although contract clauses are understood to present difficulties in finalizing a deal. Following their pursuit of Rogers, Arsenal continues to seek attacking additions. Atletico Madrid forward Julián Álvarez is reportedly Arsenal's preferred target, but the player's current inclination to join Barcelona and the potential transfer fee, which could surpass the British record of £125 million, present significant challenges. Arsenal has also explored the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
