Ark Restaurants Faces Looming Eviction from Bryant Park Venues
A lengthy legal battle may force the operator to cease operations at its Bryant Park Grill, Cafe, and Porch locations by October 2026.
Ark Restaurants is facing imminent eviction from its Bryant Park locations, including the Bryant Park Grill, Cafe, and Porch, following a protracted legal dispute with its landlord, the nonprofit Bryant Park Corporation. Ark CEO Michael Weinstein recently informed investors that the company may be required to vacate the premises and cease operations around October 16, 2026, when a stay on an eviction ruling expires.
The legal struggle over the restaurant leases has been ongoing for over a year. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Ark Restaurants' Bryant Park venues have continued to operate. These park locations account for approximately 15% of Ark's total revenue. However, Weinstein has indicated that the uncertainty surrounding the leases has negatively impacted pre-booked party business.
The Bryant Park Corporation intends to replace Ark Restaurants with a new establishment operated by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. However, this proposed transition is also facing its own challenges, as Vongerichten's initial partner for the Bryant Park venture, Seaport Entertainment Group, has reportedly withdrawn from the deal.
