Anthony Hamilton Sells Classic Car Collection for Nearly $2.9 Million
Lewis Hamilton's father, Anthony, achieved significant results at auction with 27 vehicles from his personal collection.

Anthony Hamilton, father of seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, has sold 27 classic cars from his private collection at auction, grossing nearly £2.9 million (approximately $3.7 million USD). The collection was offered at the Iconic Auctioneers British Racing Drivers' Club Classic Sale at Silverstone over the weekend.
The sale saw international collectors vying for Hamilton Sr.'s vehicles, which predominantly featured British automotive icons. The highest earner was a 1993 Jaguar XJ220, a low-mileage example with just 3,277 miles on the odometer. This particular car set a new UK auction record, selling for £506,250.
Five other vehicles from the collection also surpassed the £100,000 mark. A 2007 Jaguar XKSS recreation, one of 69 UK-supplied, right-hand-drive models, fetched £400,000, exceeding its upper estimate by £25,000. Additionally, a 2016 David Brown Automotive Speedback GT, with minimal mileage, sold for £202,500.
Other notable sales included a pair of 2016 Jaguar C-Type recreations, which achieved £192,000 and £190,000 respectively. A restored 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2-Litre Roadster sold for £119,250, and a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL in pristine condition reached £104,625.
A 1997 David Brown Mini Remastered, described as heavily modernized and uprated, also set a new world record for its model, selling for £92,250.
Rob Hubbard, managing director at Iconic Auctioneers, commented on the success of the sale, stating that the results reflected the quality of the cars and the confidence buyers had in the auction house. He added that handling such a collection required careful preparation and a deep understanding of how to connect with the right audience.
