Amy's Kitchen Recalls Over 184,000 Cans of Soup Due to Spoilage Risk

Amy's Kitchen has initiated a voluntary recall of over 184,000 cans of its Organic Lentil Soup – Light in Sodium due to concerns that a defect in the can's easy-open pull tab could lead to spoilage. The affected product, Lot Number: 60D0924 with a best-by date of April 2027, was distributed in 20 U.S. states and parts of Canada.

Retailers that sold the affected soup include major chains such as Whole Foods, Walmart, Kroger, and Albertsons, as well as online through Amazon. The recall, which began on June 22, 2026, is still active. Amy's Kitchen stated the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure product quality and safety.

The recalled soup is gluten-free, vegan, and plant-based, featuring green lentils, celery, carrots, and potatoes. Amy's Kitchen describes the product as a rich and satisfying veggie staple that is a good source of protein.

More than 15,350 cases of the soup are encompassed by the recall. The U.S. states where the cans were distributed include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

No other lot numbers or Amy's Kitchen products are affected by this recall. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has categorized this recall as Class II, which signifies a situation where the use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

This recall comes amid a period of increased food recalls. Earlier in the week, approximately 19 million eggs were recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination, and several organic fruit puree pouches were withdrawn from shelves due to an internal packaging defect. Pillsbury also recalled 735,000 bread rolls over concerns of possible glass contamination.

In a separate incident, Taylor Farms recalled several lettuce products following a cyclospora outbreak that sickened hundreds across five states. Cyclospora causes cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness characterized by prolonged diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, bloating, weight loss, and a low-grade fever. The FDA notes that individuals with weakened immune systems, the elderly, and children may experience more severe illness. Taylor Farms products are sold through retailers like Target, Walmart, Whole Foods Market, and Amazon Fresh.
