Amazon Investigates Delivery Driver Tossed Package

Amazon is investigating an incident after a customer shared doorbell camera footage showing a delivery driver throwing a package onto his porch.

The video, captured by a Ring doorbell camera belonging to Nathan Pekas of Florida, shows the driver approaching the home and hurling the box onto the cement porch, where it landed with a thud. The driver is then seen raising their hands to take a photo before leaving.

Pekas stated the package was delivered by Yun Express, a third-party carrier used by Amazon. He also shared an image of the damaged box, which had a damaged corner. He speculated that the heat in Florida might have contributed to the driver's rough handling of the package.

In a statement to Storyful, Amazon said, "This video does not reflect the standards we have for our delivery partners, and we’re looking into this matter."

This incident follows other recent reports of questionable delivery practices. Earlier this year, Amazon faced scrutiny over its AI-powered delivery drones, which were observed dropping packages from significant heights. Additionally, a viral TikTok video showed a FedEx driver appearing to throw heavy packages toward pets in Nebraska.

According to a 2024 report, approximately 85 million damaged parcels are delivered annually in the U.S. The report also highlighted significant issues with package theft, with California and New York experiencing the highest losses due to doorstep pilfering.
