Amazon Australia Enhances Delivery Speeds, Launches Five-Hour Options
The e-commerce giant is offering expedited delivery services in major Australian cities, coinciding with a surge in demand for household essentials and cleaning supplies.
Amazon Australia has introduced significantly faster delivery options for customers in Sydney and Melbourne, with some Prime members now able to receive orders in as little as five hours. This enhancement to its delivery network comes as the marketplace reports strong sales of everyday household items, including cleaning products and personal care items.
The Scrub Mommy Multipurpose Cleaning Scrubber and Sponge has emerged as a top-selling item, with over 3,000 units sold in the past month. The dual-sided sponge, praised for its scratch-free scrubbing capabilities and odor resistance, is currently on sale for $4.55. Other popular products include a 48-pack of Quilton 3-Ply Toilet Tissue, with over 30,000 sold recently, along with Huggies baby wipes and BIODANCE Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask, both exceeding 10,000 sales in the last month.
These purchasing trends indicate that Australian shoppers are relying on Amazon to replenish essential household goods and personal care items. The new delivery speeds aim to meet this demand, with Prime members in eligible areas now able to choose from several faster delivery windows. For instance, orders placed by 10 p.m. can be delivered between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. the following day. Same-day delivery options are also available, with orders placed by 8 a.m. arriving between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and orders placed by midday arriving between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Over one million items are eligible for same-day delivery for customers in Sydney, and more than half a million in Melbourne. Prime members in Perth, Canberra, Geelong, the Central Coast, Newcastle, and the Hunter region can also receive same-day delivery if they order by 11 a.m. for delivery before 10 p.m.
Beyond same-day options, one-day delivery is available in 12 locations nationally. For all other eligible locations, Prime members benefit from free delivery in two days or less. Additionally, Amazon has launched "Amazon Day" nationwide, allowing customers to consolidate eligible orders into a single delivery on a chosen day of the week, which can help reduce packaging waste and provide greater delivery flexibility.
