AmaRudi River Cruise Ship to Debut in 2027 with High-End Amenities

The AmaRudi, set to launch on the Danube River on April 11, 2027, will be Europe's largest double-width river cruise ship. Accommodating 196 guests in 98 staterooms, the vessel emphasizes spaciousness and an intimate guest experience.

Named in honor of AmaWaterways co-founder Rudi Schreiner, the ship is the company's second double-width vessel, following the AmaMagna launched in 2019. Schreiner, who grew up near the Danube, stated that the ship's name is particularly meaningful as it represents a continuation of the legacy he has helped build over two decades in river cruising. He noted an increasing trend of travelers transitioning from ocean to river cruising, seeking more personal space and a wider range of choices.

Onboard amenities include a private cinema, a state-of-the-art fitness suite with panoramic views, and a pickleball court on the Sun Deck. The ship also offers various fitness classes and health programs. For relaxation, the Zen Wellness Centre provides massage rooms, a hair and nail salon, and dedicated quiet spaces.

Dining options range from the main Journey's Restaurant to the more exclusive Chef's Table, which serves Italian lunch menus, and an open-air Al Fresco Restaurant. Rudi's Wine Bar, an intimate space, is inspired by Schreiner's appreciation for European wine culture.

The ship's design incorporates modern elegance and comfort, with subtle references to the cities and cultures along the Danube River. The AmaRudi will feature a novel entertainment hub that combines a soundproofed private cinema, karaoke, billiards, and jukebox facilities.

Environmental considerations have also been integrated into the vessel's design, including advanced Stage V engines, solar panels, shore-power connectivity, and spud poles to minimize its impact on waterways. Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways, expressed confidence in the future of river cruising and the company's commitment to innovation with the AmaRudi.
