Aldi Hommus Named Best in Australia in Product Awards

A $2.49 tub of Aldi's Deli Originals Fresh Hommus Dip has been recognized as a top product in Australia, according to new purchasing data from Aldi's 2026 People's Picks Awards. The dip has gained a cult following among shoppers who consider it a superior and more affordable alternative to other brands.

Fans have lauded the hommus for its creamy, slightly fluffy texture and bold flavor. Some consumers have noted its value compared to pricier options like Obela, which can cost around $5 per tub. Shoppers have frequently described Aldi's hommus as "10 times better than other 'name' brands" and a staple on their weekly shopping lists.

The hommus also outperformed other products in its category, beating out the Urban Eats Fetta & Spinach Gozleme ($4.99) and Urban Eats Roti Bread eight-pack ($3.99) for the 'Scroll-Stopping Star' award. Aldi's flavored varieties, such as roasted red pepper and spicier options, also received praise for delivering intense flavor without the need for additional seasoning.

This award-winning hommus is part of a broader trend of Australians seeking out affordable staples. The People's Picks Awards, determined using DoorDash ordering insights, revealed that eight out of nine winning products are priced below $5, reflecting a consumer focus on value during a period of increased cost of living.

Other top-selling Aldi products highlighted in the awards include Bakers Life All Butter Croissants ($2.29 for a three-pack), Almat Laundry Liquid ($1.99 for two liters), Dairy Fine Milk Chocolate ($3.49), Damora Eton Original Crackers ($1.49), Elmsbury Spinach & Ricotta Triangles ($3.29 for a 12-pack), Brooklea No Added Sugar Strawberry Yogurt Pouches ($1.29), Sprinters Corn Chips Cheese Extreme ($2.39), and Jindurra Station 5 Star Beef Mince ($9.99 for 500g).

Aldi's success in Australia is attributed to its private-label products, which often provide quality comparable to more expensive brands at significantly lower prices. This strategy has cultivated a dedicated customer base that actively shares recommendations online and integrates these budget-friendly items into their regular shopping routines.
